THAT GLASSY EYED LOOK

I didn’t get a chance to read the story but there was a headline in the local paper this morning concerning how many ballots in Oregon’s vote by mail that haven’t been turned in yet. I suspect that one reason is sheer mental exhaustion. Between the national scandals and the local low jinks a lot of my neighbors are getting that glazed eyed, retreat into my turtle shell look on their faces.

For the record mom and I filled out our ballots last night and she’ll drop them off at one of the local drop stations today.

VOTE! IT GUARANTEES YOUR RIGHT TO BITCH ABOUT THE RESULTS.

I sat down to vote, took one look at the tome of biblical proportions that accompanied all the ballot measures, and thought, "Oh, no!  I DO NOT have time for this."

I solved the problem by following two smple philosophies:  If there was a Democrat on the ballot I voted for him or her.  And, since I think Oregon's intitiative process is a load of crap, I voted "no" an just about every initiative (except the one about the prescription drug coverage) ESPECIALLY if the wording started out with "Changes the Constitution."  Given the events of the last, oh, six years or so, I find I DO NOT have enough faith in the competence of the average voter to allow them to stick their fingers in that particular pie.  Lisa  :-]

I got a little of that glassy eye action happening on my face too -- but it'll be a much worse look in 24 hours if the intelligent people don't go out and vote in huge numbers.

Grrrrrrrr

I agree with Lisa, if a proposition had any change on any Constitution, I voted no.
Sounds like the voter turn out is good.  If I recall correctly, locally the report I heard said two thirds more than the number that voted in the last primary.
